Join us for a relaxing sketch and painting event in the early evening assembling in the south parking lot of this local park, which features a ball diamond, tennis courts and a railroad! Just to the north within an easy walking distance is the quaint Linworth Crossing shopping strip, with outdoor cafes and seating, and plenty of shade. A Dunkin Donuts/Baskin Robbins is within an easy walk. Lots of opportunities here to paint landscapes, structures, athletes, trains, cars and people, along with an occasional deer! Also to eat ice cream, pizza and such afterwards! Come join us to have fun and create! What will you come up with? Or come and just unwind in the neighborhood?

The North Market in the Short North is always a favorite place to sketch. Join us on Sunday, February 25 and sketch from upstairs looking down on the shops or find a seat in one of the shops downstairs to sketch. Shop and get a bite to eat while you're there. Let's share our sketches upstairs at 3:15 pm. Look for the other sketchers and you'll find us.

We will meet just outside of the front entrance to the Southwest Public Library (just inside if it's raining!) Then work our way south to draw and paint in the picturesque part of the old city. There are many one story unique buildings, brick berms, and many trees and people. The historic little downtown area has many shops and restaurants. It's a great opportunity to paint or draw the urban landscape.

Meet near the white barn, in the cool misty morning (avoiding summer's heat)and then prepare to paint reflections, bridges, fisherman, and of course, the barn! If you have not been here before, this is a beautiful park with water lilies, frogs, and shade! Be sure to bring a chair, water and a relaxed attitude. Plenty of subjects here in a country landscape.

Inniswood is a beautiful place to sketch flowers, landscapes building etc.  If you take a bit of your time, the visitor center has a beautiful art display and also open until 4:00 pm.
We can meet at main entrance by the parking lot at 1:00 pm .
If you be like to go earlier you can take a brown bag and have lunch in the park, there’s plenty of benches to sit around and find a good place to sketch .Hope I see you all there.

Alum Creek Lower Dam

Alum Creek Dam was constructed by the US Army Corps of Engineers between 1970 and 1974 and retrofitted in 1977 for enhanced safety. The dam spans on Alum Creek, a tributary of Big Walnut Creek which drains into the Scioto River, and formed Alum Creek Lake just to its north. The dam is 10,000 feet long (1.7 miles) with a maximum height of 93 feet. There is a spillway high on the right. The underlying rock is Ohio Black Shale and it's an earthen and concrete dam.

Historic Worthington Sketch Crawl: Draw, Design & Dine

"Rain or Shine"; "Draw, Design and Dine.". We will meet at 9:15 am just outside/inside if its raining or snowing" of a picturesque quaint French bakery to acquaint ourselves with the history here and available subjects. If weather does not cooperate, we will move inside. Park in the large public lot behind the High Street shops, accessible two driveways west off New England Avenue and High or use on street parking.

Our meeting spot to begin or linger will be the picturesque La Chatelaine French Bistro at 627 High Street, in Worthington, Ohio. You can get a delicious pastry and coffee there with plenty of outdoor seating available if you do not want to eat or stay inside.

Bicentennial Park/Priscilla R. Tyson Cultural Arts Center

Join us for a spring Afternoon exploring Bicentennial Park and Priscilla R. Tyson Cultural Arts Center. We'll meet at the Scioto Mile Fountain. This a downtown destination that features a one-of-a-kind fountain, park restaurant, an eye-catching performance pavilion, interesting bridges and the river side full of life and nature.

Parking: Ample meter parking, surface lots, and parking garages are located in the area.

Now for something completely different! Did you know that Ohio hosts the leading Blue Grass festival in the United States? The bluegrass festival provides an opportunity to sketch the live performances surrounded by traditional Appalacian music. Fiddle, banjo, guitar, drums, dulcimer and ukulele, with lively vocals, We will meet for three hours there that Saturday, meeting up just inside the main entrance to the festival, cost is expected to be in the $20 range. Sketch at East Market, The Historic Trolley District

 Sunday, February 19, 2023, 1:00 - 4:00 pm

Meet us at the Railhouse Bar at the East end of the market. Plenty of seating for everyone. Take a stroll around the market and grab something to eat at one of the vendors if you like. This is a smaller version of the North market but there are some interesting sketching subjects both inside and out. There are some windows to look out while sketching in the comfort of the bar. This was an old trolley barn back in the day. We'll meet back at 3:15 pm in the bar to share our sketches and maybe hang out and get acquainted.

"Small planes and Such at Don Scott Field"

Come enjoy the buzz of activity and adventure of this thriving small plane airport, and choose your subject here planes, trucks, helicopters and of course people. We will assemble just outside of the main terminal entrance, look for the Net Jets logo, and gather at the end to share our creations. Don Scott field is aka as The Ohio State University Airport has scheduled jet service for planes up to thirty passengers and recently has become an FAA center for drone testing.

Indoor sketching is limited to pencil only. Paint and ink may be used outside in the sculpture garden only.

Columbus Symphony Winter Festival Dress Rehearsal

Join us! We will be attending the open dress rehearsal of the Columbus Symphony Orchestra for a Friday morning Treat. $14 includes coffee and doughnuts. We will meet about fifteen minutes or so before the start where the refreshments will be served, and then scatter about in their open seating to enjoy the musicians preparing for their upcoming performance. Please observe any needed covid precautions, and plan on gathering to share our creations at the end on this one. (and yes I did verify the time for this one!)The planned program includes:Rimsky-Korsakov: Suite from The Snow Maiden

Sketch at German Holiday Lights & Music

The Columbus Maennerchor will be presenting a Christmas Concert, at St. Mary Catholic Church in German Village. If you have never heard the Columbus Maennerchor and accompanying women and men's. choirs, you are in for a treat. This choir dates back 140 years when German Village was founded, and features German choral arrangements, largely sung in German. The accompanying women's and children choirs are also rumored to follow. This choral event will take place in conjunction with the German Holiday Lights Celebration on December 4th, which also includes a related holiday market and other events until 8 pm.

Sketch at Karl Road Library

Meet us at 1:30 at the Karl Road Branch of the Columbus Metro Library for a relaxing afternoon of sketching. This is a very airy and beautiful space, allowing plenty of room to to spread out and sketch. If you've not seen it before, it's a beautiful facility inside and out, ultra modern lines books and of course people. Please join us adjacent to the front entrance. This event is a great opportunity for venturing out to host this event, for anyone interested....rain or shine! cold or hot! you will be comfortable.
We do need a host for this event as we are not sure if any of our administrators will be able to attend.

Sketch at Pro Musica plays Handel's Messiah, dress rehearsal


Mark your calendars for a special holiday treat, as we have asked Columbus' Pro Musica for special permission to let us attend their open dress rehearsal at the beautiful Southern Theatre. Always a favorite, we will get a view of what it takes to get a full performance off the ground, sketching all the way. If you have never visited the theatre before, it is am architectural masterpiece, and this sketching event will provide an excellent opportunity for figure sketching too.... not to mention with an accompaniment of some of the world's most beautiful music! We plan to meet at the front entrance on this one. Please observe any needed covid protocols inside.

Sketch at The Fort


Join host Rich Baginski for a trip back to the 1890's for a unique one time only exclusive opportunity to see and sketch The Fort. The grounds and buildings will be open to the Urban Sketchers by special arrangement. They are otherwise closed to the public. This is a free event.This nearly 130 year old manufacturing facility was founded and occupied through the 1960's by The Seagraves Company - the oldest manufacturer of firefighting engines and apparatus in the country. Today this iconic site is called The Fort.

Exploring Green lawn Cemetery and Huntington Chapel


Green Lawn Cemetery is the final resting place of 155k Central Ohioans, including five Ohio governors, humorist James Thurber, five medal of honor recipients, among them Eddie Rickenbacher, notable women including Mary Miner Wharton, Isabelle Ridgway, actress Merie Earle (known for her work on The Waltons and the Bob Newhart show) and Carrie Nelson Black (founder of the visiting nurses association, now known as Lifecare Alliance) and artist Alice Schille.

Sketch Outside Schmidt's in German Village


Meet in front of the Fudge Haus and sketch some of the wonderful German architecture. Wander around the neighborhood and choose your favorite subjects. There is the Sausage Haus and the Red Stable across the street all nestled on brick streets. Helen Winnemore's art and gift shop is only a block away and is a quaint business that has been around since 1938. Or just sketch one of the many houses in the neighborhood.

Donna Nesbitt would like to invite you to sketch at Shepherd's Corner Ecology Center, 987 N. Waggoner Road, Blacklick on Friday September 30 from 10 till noon. The site features a barn, wildflowers, a meditation trail, sheep and Maggie, the llama (who's a bit shy). The center asks visitors to sign a waiver to be on site. https://shepherdscorner.org/
